Situated some 3km from the village of Crosmières (baker, butcher, café, restaurant etc) this simple but spacious and immaculate farmhouse looks out over a broad gravelled courtyard aand wellkept lawns, beyond which is a quite magnificient view over meadows towards the owners’ elegant château, a few hundred yards away.

Overlooked by the very nicely arranged kitchen and contained within a walled precinct, in the 10x5m swimming pool (depth 1m10), entered by broad steps from a sunny patio with garden table, sunloungers etc. bounded also by the endwall.

Amoungst many wonderful place to visit are Saumur, due south on te loire river, famed for its ancient “Cadre Noir” riding school and is excellent sparkling white wine. A little further east along the Loire are the extraordinary “maisons troglodytes”, built into cliffs overlooking the river, and a little further south, the magnificient abbey of Fontevraud with the tombs of Eleanor of Aquitaine, Henry II Plantagenet, and their son Richard the Lion Heart.
